Queens, NY - The scramble to fill the seat of former Assemblywoman Audrey Pheffer has taken another turn, with her longtime aide announcing she will not run for the post.

That clears the deck for Phillip Goldfeder, an aide to U.S. Sen. Chuck Schumer. Goldfeder is being touted as the Queens Democratic Party’s pick to replace Pheffer, who recently stepped down from her legislative post to become the Queens County Clerk.

LIPA Partners with Yeshiva Darchei Torah to Complete New Energy-Efficient Educational Facility in Far Rockaway

Far Rockaway, NY—The Long Island Power Authority (LIPA) has partnered with Yeshiva Darchei Torah to assist them in the construction of a new educational facility outfitted with the latest energy efficient measures and technologies that will help save the school $119,131 in annual electric costs.

LIPA Chief Operating Officer Michael D. Hervey presented Rabbi Yaakov Bender with a rebate check for the school’s participation in LIPA’s Commercial Efficiency Program.

This Sunday the Yeshiva Darchei Torah celebrated a new landmark event the Chanukas Habayis of comlition of the magnificent new complex - Their was a Siyum and Hachnosas Sefer Torah in Honor of the distinguished Rebbeim at Darchei Torah. The final letters were written Sunday afternoon at the residence of Mr & Mrs. Dovid Bloom at 523 Cedar Hill Road in Far Rockaway NY thefollowing the Kesivas Osiyos the Sefer Torah was escorted by hundreds Rebbeim, Students and Community members to the first Darchei Torah Building and from their to the beautiful new Building.

As more than 3 million people in the United States are currently suffering from epilepsy and the seizures that accompany the disease, Dr. David Steiner, of the Five Towns Neuroscience Research Center in Cedarhurst, is conducting a clinical trial in hopes of minimizing or ridding people of those seizures completely.
